LAWSUIT:
Last school year 5 students from the Detroit who attended the lowest performing schools, started a federal law suit. WXYZ documented one student Jamarria Hall; He says he can't even seem to get a teacher in every class. He is sick of being sent to the gym to play basketball during Spanish class because he has no Spanish teacher. "I feel like I'm getting cheated." The law suit says that by under-funding education- the state is denying kids of their constitutional right to literacy.
The LA Times states 'That Michigan has violated the 14th amendment. The 14th amendment is defying national citizenship and to forbid the states to restrict basic rights. The 5 students are saying that learning is a basic right. I is also said that all 50 states make Kindergarten- 12th grade mandatory. Why should eduction it be mandatory if the students are not even learning.

STUDENTS SUBJECT AVERAGES:
The graph below shows the differences between DPS ( Detroit Public Schools), Michigan state average, and the Detroit Charter Schools. As you can see all of Detroit's students are falling behind on the academic level. Even the Charter Schools, with a shocking fact that DPS students are higher on the academic level.
From the Washington Post, "Only 5 percent of students were proficient in math on the 2015 nation tests, and 6 percent were proficient in reading.
Jamarria Hall, from WXYZ said,"I can ready because of support at home, but other students are not as lucky." Hearing this come from student, who have seen peers drop out, is showing that there are students who want to learn. But these averages are not high because so many students don't care, and would rather not learn. If the majority of students in DPS wireline Jamarria, the school system could be better.
